Carolina Pottery Festival set for Nov. 14 in Shelby

Talented area potters will display traditional and contemporary works

SHELBY – The Carolina Pottery Festival will celebrate its ninth year Saturday, Nov. 14, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds.

Approximately 100 well known regional potters showcase and sell their works at the festival that is one of the largest pottery only festivals in the Southeast. The talented potters offer a wide range of traditional and contemporary work that is functional, decorative and sculptural.

Artists will be on hand to talk about their inspiration, methods of creation and answer questions. Demonstrations by the artists are fascinating to watch and there will be information about pottery lessons and education. Those attending will have chances to win pottery throughout the day as admission ticket numbers will be drawn hourly.

Free parking is convenient to the fairgrounds. Admission to the show is $3 for those ages 15 and over. A portion of the admission proceeds benefits the Cleveland County Arts Council.
