WHAT’S UP Church news Circle of Grace Lutheran Chapel will receive offerings supporting the Gaffney Soup Kitchen during worship Sunday, Nov. 8. The congregation meets at 9:30 a.m. in Limestone College’s Camp-Swofford Chapel at the corner of College Drive and Griffeth Street. Shady Grove Baptist Church Gospel Choir will celebrate 39 years of singing with an anniversary service Sunday, Nov. 15, during the 11 a.m. worship hour. The Rev. Lee Byers, pastor, will deliver the sermon. Throughout the service, the Gospel Choir will sing favorites from anniversaries past. All former choir members or family representatives are especially invited to attend and will be recognized. The Grace Trio will sing Sunday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m. at Beaverdam Baptist Church on Beaverdam Road. A “Life of Purpose” meeting will be held Sunday, Nov. 8, at 3 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church of Gaffney. Speaker will be Georgia White. Holy City Quartet and Servant’s Call will be in concert Saturday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. at Rock Falls Church, 8349 Valley Falls Road, Boiling Springs. The first meeting of the Single Adult Ministry of Cherokee County will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, from 7-9 at Park Hills Baptist Church, 1100 Leadmine Road. Light snacks and child care provided. Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located on the corner of Vernon and Grace streets, will present “The Mystery of The Shroud of Turin: The Case for Authenticity,” on Friday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. Speaker will be John Iannone, a Catholic writer, lecturer and filmaker who has studied the Holy Stroud for 30 years. Joyful Sound, North Greenville University’s Baptist Student Union Ensemble, will present a concert Sunday, Nov. 8, at 10:45 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church. Special events The annual Antioch bazaar and breakfast will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, from 8 a.m. until noon at the Antioch Community on Antioch Road in Blacksburg. There will be door prizes, crafts and baked goods. The Senior Centers of Cherokee County, 499 W. Rutledge Ave., will have a Christmas show Friday, Nov. 6, from 5:30- 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be a large variety of Christmas gifts for sale. Admission is free. Meetings Cherokee County Republican Woman’s Club will meet Monday, Nov. 9, at Aegean Pizza. Lanny Littlejohn and members of delegation may attend. Club members will vote on 2010 officers. Visitors welcome. The Gaffney branch of AAUW (American Association of University Women) will meet Monday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. in the Academic Building on the Cherokee County Campus of Spartanburg Community College. Darrell Smith, executive director, will provide a short tour and give an overview of the Cherokee County campus mission. The public is welcome as space allows. AAUW is part of a national organization with state and local affiliations. AAUW members are also members of an international organization, the International Federal of Women. Anyone who has earned a degree from an accredited college or university is eligible for membership. The Gaffney branch meets during the school year on the second Monday of the month.
