Conrad Barnhill

Retired from Hoechst Celanese

Conrad Earl Barnhill, 78, of 1902 Wilkinsville Hwy., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Shelba Jones Barnhill and son of the late Charles Killian Barnhill and Nora Patrick Barnhill. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School, served with the National Guard and retired from Hoechst Celanese as a mechanic after 35 years of service.

Mr. Barnhill was a member of the 4-F Club of Draytonville Baptist Church and the Coffee Club at Hardee’s. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, where he was a trustee and formerly served as a deacon, treasurer, chairman of deacons, RA leader and Sunday School teacher.

In addition to his wife, surviving are two sons, Mark Barnhill and wife, Jane, of Clemmons, N.C., and K.C. Barnhill and wife, April, of Gaffney; a daughter, Lisa Barnhill Phillips of Gaffney; and three grandchildren, Nancy Hunter Barnhill, Preston Barnhill and Will Phillips.

The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 6, from 1:30-3 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church. Services will immediately follow at 3 p.m. at the church with the Revs. Steve Price and Scott Kierstead officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church, “Music Department,” 1508 Cherokee Ave., Gaffney, SC, 29340.
