Early Battle Jr.

Early Battle Jr., 59, of 114 Claremont St., husband of Miriam Rainey Battle, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.

Son of the late Early Battle Sr. and the late Rev. Elizabeth Thompson Battle, he was born Nov. 27, 1949, in Cleveland County, N.C. He was a member of Mikes Creek Missionary Baptist Church and was last employed by Brown Packing Company in Gaffney.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a stepson whom he reared, Patrick Rainey of Gaffney; four sisters, Marie Battle Jackson and Sheila Battle, both of Forest City, N.C., Christine Norris of Mooresboro, N.C., and Lizzie Mae McDowell of Shelby, N.C.; two brothers, James Battle of Forest City and Eddie Battle of Fredericksburg, Va.; one grandson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family is at 414 Kraft St., Gaffney.
