Enclave celebrates 10 years

The Timken enclave The Timken enclave The Timken enclave from the Cherokee County Disabilities and Special Needs Board (CCDSNB) Work Activity Center recently celebrated its 10 year anniversary with the company. The group was originally placed at Timken on October 11, 1999. In celebration of this partnership, Timken provided a luncheon on Monday, October 19, 2009 to honor the hardworking group.

Pattie Woods has been the enclave supervisor at Timken since the beginning of the working relationship. Three of the enclave’s eight workers, Diane Bolin, John Loftis, and Freddie Whelchel have also been with the enclave since its inception. Other enclave workers include: Shashonie Moore, Barry Peterson, Alison Phillips, Charo Watkins, and Charity Miller.

The group assembles a variety of packaging boxes used to ship Timken’s roller bearings to many different locations around the world. They are required to keep approximately 7,000 boxes on hand for use. They also break down boxes, inspect them and determine if they can be used again. The enclave currently works Monday through Thursday and occasionally on Friday.

The Cherokee County Disabilities and Special Needs Board is grateful for the opportunity Timken provides our consumers to work out in the community and the positive work relationship shared between Timken and our agency.
