Mary H. Parker
The loving and cheerful life of Mary Louise “Polly” Harris Parker of 3621 Holts Chapel Road, Greensboro, N.C., came to an end on Nov. 9, 2009, at her home.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the wife of Carlton Parker and daughter of the late Dewey and Vesta Harris. She was a former majorette, band member and graduate of Granard High School, Area Trade School of Barbering and Johnson C. Smith University.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Ronda Forbes (Dan) and Rosalyn Marsh; grandsons, Roland Forbes and Elijah Marsh; granddaughter, Camille Forbes; sisters, Dorothy H. McDowell (Hershel) and Mattie H. Manning (Lowell); brother, J. Weldon Harris (Lillie) of South Windsor, Conn.; and sisters-in-law, Esther P. Harris and Carolyn Harris.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Samuel, Dewey, Marvin, Charles, Ervin and Calvin Harris; other cousins and many friends.
Viewing will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at the church. Services will follow at Greater Metropolitan Restoration Center, 1806 Merritt Drive, Greensboro, with Bishop Ralph Graves officiating. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park on High Point Road.
