Church news

 White Plains Baptist Church, 206 Soap Stone Road, will present AMAZED 09 on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 6-8 p.m. Music and message will be presented by Acts of God. There will be free pizza and door prizes.

 Christian Heights Baptist Church will have a yard sale Saturday, Nov. 14, beginning at 8 a.m. inside the activity building. There will be something for everyone. The sale goes on rain or shine.

 White Plains Baptist Church's annual trustee program will be Nov. 15 at 4 p.m. The Rev. Warren Manning will be the speaker.

 Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 142nd anniversary with a special program Sunday, Nov. 15, at 4 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Terry Norman.

 Calvary Christian Assembly, 6194 Cannons Campground Road, will have a R.I.O.T. Fun Day on Saturday, Nov. 14. There will be games, a puppet show and candy.

 Southside Baptist Church, 204 W. O’Neal St., will host a unique event Saturday, Nov. 14, from 4- 8 p.m. The “County Fair" is for all ages and there will be children’s games, crafts for adults and special "Hee Haw" type entertainment.

 Park Hills Baptist Church on Leadmine Road will have a Veteran's Day service Sunday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. The Broad River Leathernecks will take part in the presentation of the colors. Michael Steagall and Melena Steagall, members of Park Hills and the Gaffney High School ROTC, will do the pledges.

 Holy City Quartet of Mt. Pleasant and Servant's Call of Rutherfordton will be in concert Saturday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. at Rock Falls Church, 8349 Valley Falls Road, Boiling Springs. A poor man's supper will be available from 5-6:15 p.m. in the Family Life Center. For more information, call 828-223-1514.

 Annual Men's Day services will be held Sunday, Nov. 15, at 9:30 a.m. at Island Creek Baptist Church, 2112 Battleground Road. Men will be in charge of the services and music will be presented by the All Male Chorus and Boys Choir. The pastor, Dr. J.W. Sanders Sr., will deliver the message and the services will conclude with the crowning of the Man of the Year 2009. Competing for the title are Roy Hunter and Reggie Littlejohn.

Special events

 Brookview Healthcare, 510 Thompson St., will have a fall festival Saturday, Nov. 14, from 4- 6 p.m. and everyone in the community is invited to attend. Limestone College students will help with festival activities. There will be free games, tattoos, prizes, a giant slide, castle bounce house, live music and Kidz Craft Zone. Cotton candy and popcorn along with pumpkin pie will be sold for reasonable prices. Pizza, hot dog and hamburger plates will be $4.50 and include a beverage.

Meeting

 The monthly SHOC meeting will be held Wednesday, Nov. 18, at noon in the banquet room of Limestone College's Stephenson Dining Hall. All Cherokee County social and healthcare organizations are invited to attend. Joe Bonner, executive director of the Fullerton Foundation, will be the guest speaker.

 The Gaffney Business and Professional Women's Club will meet Monday, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m. at Aegean Pizza. The Career Woman and the Woman of Accomplishment for 2009-2010 will be announced. Guests and prospective new members are welcome. For more information, call 838-1934.

Bloodmobile

 The Piedmont Blood Center’s bloodmoible will be at Munchies Gas and Go in Blacksburg on Friday, Nov. 13, from 12-6 p.m. and at Calvary Baptist Church in Gaffney for a special collection for leukemia patient Charlie Ivey on Sunday, Nov. 15, from 12:30-4:30 p.m.
