Forgiveness
The world watched in disbelief in 2006 when the Amish community unexpectedly forgave a killer’s family just days following the shooting of 10 girls in a school house.
Hours after the tragedy, several members of the Amish community reached out to the killer’s family to express their sorrow and forgiveness.
Elizabethtown College Professor Donald Kraybill found himself answering questions from journalists struggling to make sense of the Amish viewpoint on forgiveness following the tragedy.
Kraybill will speak about forgiveness issues Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. in Limestone College in the finale of a fall speaker series called “Through the Darkness: Toward the Light.” The speaker series is intended to help heal the wounds in the Cherokee County community after the serial killings that occurred here last summer.
