About $100 in vandalism damage was reported at an area business.
According to the Gaffney Police Department, someone cut tires at Chapman Tires on West Birnie Street between Oct. 30 and Nov. 6.
Damage is estimated at $100.
A hit-and-run driver caused an estimated $2,500 in damage Nov. 6.
According to the Gaffney Police Department, the driver of a small white pickup truck made an improper lane change near East Frederick Street and New Street at about 6:07 p.m. and struck the right front and side of a 1991 Ford driven by a city man.
The driver of the small white pickup could not be found after the collision.
The Gaffney Police Department served warrants on two individuals recently in unrelated cases of alleged shoplifting.
In one case, police charged Marquis Barnette Holmes, 35, of Sycamore Street, with a third or subsequent offense of property crimes. Police allege Holmes took 13 cartons of cigarettes from a West Floyd Baker Boulevard convenience store.
According to a previously filed police report, the incident occurred Oct. 26. At the time, police wrote in a report that an unknown man was caught on video reaching behind the store’s counter nine separate times and concealing 13 cartons of cigarettes in his pants.
In a second case, police charged Patricia Ann Bright McAbee, 49, of Hall Road, with a third or subsequent offense of property crimes for a Nov. 6 incident during which she allegedly placed $46 in merchandise from the Dollar General on Old Georgia Highway in her pocketbook.
Two loose dogs caused an estimated $1,500 in damage to a vehicle parked on Goucher School Road recently.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, two Labrador-type dogs jumped on a Chevrolet truck parked in the 1600 block on Nov. 8, causing scratches and damage to the driver’s side, passenger side and tailgate.
A burglar or burglars targeted a Shelby Highway home recently.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone forced entry to a home in the 500 block between Oct. 31 and Nov. 6 and took a Dell computer, a computer mouse, tools and VHS movies valued at a combined $1,083.
Damage is estimated at an additional $50.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reported a break-in at a local business.
According to a police report, someone entered a business in the 1100 block of Cherokee Avenue between 8 p.m. Nov. 5 and 9:30 a.m. Nov. 6 and took a 19- inch LCD monitor, a Compaq Presario computer and miscellaneous jewelry valued at a combined $1,600.
Kitchen appliances were reported stolen from an East Junior High Road apartment following a recent break-in.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone forced entry to an apartment at Connecticut Village between Nov. 2 and Nov. 5 and took a Hotpointbrand refrigerator and a Hotpoint-brand stove valued at a combined $700.
A Ballenger Road resident recently reported the theft of a fish aquarium.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone took a 55-gallon aquarium and stand from a yard in the 700 block between 12:24 p.m. and 3:05 p.m. Nov. 7. The items are valued at $250.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reported the use of force during the arrest of a 19-year-old Oak Street woman.
According to a police report, Brenda Jean Mincey ran away from an officer trying to arrest her on a bench warrant in the 1100 block of Cherokee Avenue Nov. 6. The officer reported the use of an electronic stun gun while taking her into custody. The officer further claimed that Mincey tried to give a name the officer knew to be false.
