The return of SILENT SAM

That’s right. But after you receive the grades I will be giving out for this season, you will wish I had never returned.

st — I would like to grade the Gaffney fans. Going to a Gaffney football game now is like going to a golf match. There is no cheering or ringing of cow bells anymore. For this reason I am sorry to say fans, you’ve got a lot of work to do and I will have to give the entire Gaffney fan base a big fat “F”.

nd — I would like to grade the Gaffney band. I think the band plays the chop real well; but variety is what I am looking for. When has “Rock Around The Clock” been played? The band needs more variety, and for this reason I am giving a big fat “F”.

rd — I would like to grade the coaches. If our coaches got paid for winning big games like Byrnes, Dorman and Northwestern they would all be on food stamps. The coaches get a big fat “F”.

th — I would like to grade the Gaffney cheerleaders. Like the band they do very well when the band plays the chop, but there’s no variety, which is what I am looking for. Where is two bits, four bits, six bits, a dollar? For this reason the cheerleaders get a big fat “F”.

th — I would like to grade the Gaffney defense. All I’ve heard for 10 weeks is they are young, and they will get better. I think they are getting worse; they can’t stop the pass or run. I think they are scared when they go on the field. Until I see some positive improvement the Gaffney defense will get a big fat “F”.

th — I would like to grade the Gaffney offense. From what I’ve seen they look good when they play teams as good as Blacksburg. I remember a game where the offensive line could not block 3 guys with 5 linemen. Too many mistakes, I guess the excuse is “they are young”. I, “The Great One,” do not buy that. I just think some of the linemen should be in the band. For this reason I am giving the Gaffney offense a big fat “F”.

th — I know a lot of you think I was a little hard on you if so I am sorry. I am trying to make you feel that you not only let yourself down, you have let your ancestors down, the ones that made GHS football a tradition to be proud of. This Friday I am giving all of you a chance to improve your grades, so get started.

th — Anyone who does not like their grades can call me at 1-800-Silent Sam. I will set up tutors to help you.
