ROCK HILL – Laura Sossamon Turner, 78, of 788 Bridgewood Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at the Wayne Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill.

Born in Gaffney, she was the daughter of the late Frank Sossamon and Will DeCamp Sossamon. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie Turner, and her son, Chuck Turner. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Frank (Bubba) Sossamon, and a sister, Will Sossamon Hartzog. She was a Realtor in Rock Hill for over 20 years and was a former Realtor of the Year recipient. She volunteered countless hours in the Rock Hill community, was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and was a devoted Gamecock fan.

Mrs. Turner was a member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, where she was an active member of the Star Program. She will be remembered most for her faith in God and her total commitment to her family.

She is survived by her devoted companion, Doug Stokes of Rock Hill; two sons, Frank Turner and wife, Cheryl, and Scott Turner and wife, Gary, all of Rock Hill; a daughter, Laura Jumper and husband, Chris, of Columbia; three grandchildren she called her angels, Scottie, Wesley and Ann Gray; and a brother, Louis Sossamon of West Columbia.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Nov. 12, from 6-8 p.m. at the home of Scott and Gary Turner, 1171 Woodland Drive, Rock Hill. Graveside services will be held Friday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery in Gaffney, with the Rev. Jim Simpson officiating. A memorial service will also be held Friday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. at Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, 421 Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill.
