STUCK GATES BACK UP TRAFFIC — Motorists in downtown Gaffney had some difficult choices to make Monday morning when malfunctioning railroad crossing gates blocked passage at three major intersections. Some people, like a school bus driver, kept going south along the railroad tracks until they discovered the Frederick Street crossing was unaffected. Others headed for the T-bridge to avoid the crossings altogether. But many simply decided to look both ways to make sure it was clear and then go around. There was no immediate word on what caused the glitch but it was corrected within an hour. Among those affected by the crossings were motorists driving on East Floyd Baker Boulevard, Meadow Street and East Buford Street.
