Man dies from injuries sustained in crash
A North Carolina man hurt in a Nov. 11 crash on Interstate 85 died from his injuries Friday at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler said John Wendell Wedmore, 46, of Ashemont Road, Aberdeen, died from a closed head injury he suffered during a 3:30 p.m., Nov. 11, crash at the 82.5 Mile Marker of Interstate 85 in Cherokee County.
According to the coroner,
Wedmore was the driver and lone occupant
of a 2001 Chevrolet pickup headed north when he lost control.
The crash occurred during a heavy downpour of rain, the coroner said.
Wedmore ran off the left side of the roadway and entered the median. His vehicle struck a tree near the driver’s door.
Fowler ruled Wedmore’s death an accident.
