Robber hits outlet store
A robber stole more than $1,000 in cash and clothing from a clothing store at Prime Outlets — Gaffney on Tuesday.
According to the Gaffney Police Department, the unknown robber was shopping at the Banana Republic store at Prime Outlets at about 8:15 p.m. when he placed about $300 worth of clothing on the counter.
While he was being checked out, police said the robber gave the cashier a note that said, “Put the money in the bag, I have a gun.”
The robber then verbally demanded money from a second cash register and fled the store with about $713 in cash and the clothing he had placed on the counter.
The robber is a white male, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He has brown hair and was wearing a black coat with black pants at the time of the incident.
Witnesses told police the man fled the store and got into a small, red sport utility vehicle — possibly a Ford Escape — that had tinted windows on the back but not on the front.
According to the police report, the man was in the store for a total of about 40 minutes before the robbery occurred.
Surveillance camera footage from another store was turned over to police.
