The ninth annual Taste of Cherokee will be held Saturday, March 6, at the Broad River Electric Co-operative. The event is Cherokee County’s largest fundraiser to support the American Red Cross.

“Taste” is earmarked to generate 26 percent of the total budget for the fiscal year that ends June 30, 2010. Participants and sponsors can be confident that every penny will be utilized in Cherokee County. Buford Street Drugs/Ace Hardware and NestlĂ© Frozen Food Co. are the event’s first two Gold Sponsors.

Local businesses, organizations and individuals sponsor tables at Taste of Cherokee, providing quality foods and drinks. Participants can sample food and obtain information regarding the respective table sponsors. There is no fee to be a table sponsor.

Lori Covington, owner of CubCo, LLC, last year’s third place table theme winner, said, “ We had a lot of fun and really look forward to the 2010 event because we hope to take first place this time around. Seriously, it is for a good cause. As a Katrina survivor, I know how important the Red Cross is.”
