Christmas on Limestone set for Friday, Dec. 4

The City of Gaffney will host the ninth annual Christmas on Limestone on Friday, Dec. 4, from 5- 9 p.m. Festivities in Historic Downtown Gaffney will feature activities for children and adults of all ages.

Highlights of the evening include inflatable games and concessions from Davis Amusements, tractor and wagon rides sponsored by Buford Street Drug Store and Ace Hardware, horse and carriage rides sponsored by the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, a snow machine sponsored by Hartzog’s Gifts and Fine Jewelers, and roasted chestnuts sponsored by Pieces from the Past Antiques. The Bookshelf Florist and Gifts and Trackside Diner will sponsor performances by choirs from Restoration Church, Goucher Baptist Church and Gaffney High School as well as sidewalk art by Fred Knowles, and an appearance by the Chick-fil-A cow. Santa will be stationed at the Gaffney Fire Department.

Beginning at 5 p.m., children are invited to register to help Mayor Henry Jolly light the Christmas tree at City Hall Park. One lucky child will be chosen to help light the tree. Matthew McDonald of The Bookshelf Florist and Gifts will serve as the Town Crier, introducing Mayor Jolly and announcing the beginning of the festivities.

There will be a live Nativity sponsored by CHAPS Inc. and the Festival of Trees will be open for viewing at Gaffney City Hall while Joe and Shirley Randolph will host candlelight tours of the Michael Gaffney Log Home.

The City of Gaffney Visitors Center along with the Cherokee Alliance of Visual Artists (CAVA), will sponsor free ornament making at the Visitors Center.

Throughout the evening at various locations there will be roving choirs, hot cocoa, wassail, cookies and other refreshments, shopping and much more.
