The Cherokee County Office of Veterans Affairs will be accepting store-bought and homemade cakes to be distributed to the veterans at the VA Hospital in Asheville, N.C, and Columbia.

Cakes will be accepted until December 18. If you would like to donate a cake, drop it off by the VA office in the Peachtree Center at 1434 N. Limestone St.

The cake drop-off was started by Eddie and Elizabeth Gorski in the 1970s to make sure that veterans had a piece of home when they were in the hospital.
