Former employee of Champion Industries

Alfredia Littlejohn Tate, 61, of 941 E. O’Neal St., wife of Samuel Tate, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at 11:08 a.m. at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Daughter of the late Leroy Littlejohn and the late Louise Smith Littlejohn, she was born May 9, 1948, in Cherokee County and was a member of Gowdyesville Baptist Church. She was a 1967 graduate of Granard High School and a former employee of Champion Industries.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Timothy Tate of Gaffney and Samuel Tate Jr. of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Bridgett Giles of Atlanta, Ga.; four sisters, Hettie Littlejohn, Elmeta L. Moore, Shirley Goudelock and Nellie Corry, all of Gaffney; two brothers, Frank Littlejohn and Hubert Littlejohn, both of Gaffney; six grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, at 1 p.m. at Indian Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Mary Jefferies and Dr. Michael Bridges officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at noon.

The family is at the residence.
