Retired from Timken

Bo Turner, 85, of 114 Brown St., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was the widower of Helen “Bunkie” Vinesett Turner and son of the late Calvin Turner and Nannie Pettit Turner. He was retired from The Timken Company, a graduate of Gaffney High School, a Mason and an avid Clemson Tiger fan. Mr. Turner was a World War II Army veteran and a member of First Baptist Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Judy Turner McIlwain Hughes and husband, John, of Haines City, Fla.; a sister, Judy T. Hawkins of Spartanburg; two grandchildren, Lacey McIlwain Councill and husband, Jarrod, of Anderson and Lauren Kristin McIlwain of Greenville; two great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Councill and Mason Councill; and a special friend, Jean Elder of Gaffney.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Turner was preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Nov. 20, at 1 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Joel Sellers officiating.

Visitation was held Thursday, Nov. 19, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, “Bus Fund,” 100 E. Floyd Baker Blvd., Gaffney, SC 29340.

The family will be at the residence.
