Dorman-Gaffney tickets on sale
Tickets for tonight's Dorman- Gaffney playoff game will be sold at the football stadium's ticket office from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.
Lady Saints nip Queens in OT
A last second shot by Nastashia Mitchell lifted the Limestone College women's basketball team to a 67-65 overtime win against Queens University on Tuesday night at the Ovens Athletic Center.
The Royals stand at 1-3 overall and 0-1 in Conference Carolinas play while the Lady Saints improve to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the league.
Whitney Todd led Limestone with 18 points. She also recorded six rebounds and three assists. Maria Young recorded 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Stephanie Hayes also reached double scoring figures with 11 points. Brittany Miller had a team-high 13 rebounds. Miller and Lauren Pace tallied four assists apiece.
But Mitchell had the biggest basket of all, scoring the gamewinner with :03 left in overtime.
The game was close from the start, and the Royals had a onepoint lead (30-29) at the start of the second half. Queens started the second period with a 13-3 run. However, the Lady Saints eventually took control of the game, gaining a 49-47 advantage with 9:48 left in the half.
There were five lead changes during the remainder of regulation.
Queens held the 58-46 advantage in rebounds. The Lady Saints were 24-90 from the field while the Royals shot 32 percent.
Saints improve to 3-0
The Limestone College men's basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 77-70 victory over Conference Carolinas rival Queens University on Tuesday night.
The Saints stand at 1-0 in the league. The Royals fall to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
The Saints' Jarrell Douglass had a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Tyron Evans scored 14 points and posted 3 rebounds. Danny Friend had two blocks and five rebounds. Stewart Clark led Limestone with three assists and also recorded six rebounds.
The Saints trailed 35-27 at the end of the first half, but recovered to outscore Queens by 15 points after halftime.
Limestone outrebounded the Royals 53-30. The Saints shot 36 percent from the field.
Lady Saint earns all-region honors
Limestone College's Melissa Thomas earned Honorable Mention All-Region honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association, as announced earlier this week by the AVCA. This is the second time Thomas has garnered All-Southeast Region honors.As an outside hitter, Thomas led the Lady Saints with 433 kills and a .291 hitting percentage this season. She also recorded 145 digs. She was named First-Team All-Conference and helped Limestone to a runner-up finish in the Conference Carolinas tournament.
