Gaffney LittleTheatre sponsoring dessert sale, flea market at Friday evening event

Once again Gaffney Little Theatre will join the downtown Christmas celebration on Saturday, Dec. 4, with its annual "Just Desserts" at the Brown Building on East Frederick Street.

Last year's spectacular debut of the cooking and baking of some of Gaffney's finest was a hit with those who just wanted a slice of pie or cake or who wanted to purchase whole cakes for freezing for the Christmas season.

Phyllis Randolph and Ann Crotzer who decorated the Brown Building for last month's fashion show with a collection of costumes and mementoes belong to Gaffney Little Theatre will again show off their skills by adding Christmas decorations and seasonal items. Ed Clough will provide recorded music and seasonal ambience will be created by Jamie Grindstaff and Andy Chase by adding snow to the scene.

The "Send a Kid to Broadway" project, scheduled for this summer, will open its doors to a huge flea market on that night in response to many requests from former buyers. Admission to the flea market is available only through the main entrance on the right side of the Brown complex.

Bakers are requested to bring contributions of their favorite recipes to the Brown complex between 4-5 p.m. so they can be displayed by Little Theatre board members. Coffee, cocoa, hot mulled cider and bottled drinks and water will be sold along with the desserts.

Those willing to donate should call Karen Lavender at 488-3876 or Tedi Gibbons at 489-9863 if they wish donated items to be picked up earlier in the day. Anyone wishing to request that a special item be baked for the occasion should also call three days in advance to reserve that item.

Homemade candies, cupcakes, cookies and other confections will be available in addition to cakes and pies. Plenty of seating is available for those who would like to remain after eating to shop at the flea market or enjoy a social evening with their friends and get the Christmas spirit.
