B.U. HAMES, JR.
Broughton U. Hames, Jr., 78, of 135 Berry Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at his home.
Born in Gaffney, he was the widower of JoAnn Perry Hames and son of the late Broughton U. Hames Sr. and Ruth Irene Justice Hames. He was a retired electrician, a Mason, a Shriner and a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Hames was a member of Kirby Memorial Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon and served on various committees.
Surviving is a son, George Philip Hames and wife, Kay, of Gaffney; a daughter, Cheryl Lemaster and husband, Greg, of Gaffney; a brother, John Thomas Hames and wife, Hazel, of Punta Gorda, Fla.; a sister, Jean Huffstetler and husband, George, of Beaufort; three grandchildren, Bonnie Hyatt, Brandie Hyatt and Nikki Hames; and one greatgrandchild, Aiden Melott.
Mr. Hames was preceded in death by a brother, Nevils Hames.
The family will receive friends Monday, Nov. 30, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.
Services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 3 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Proctor officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kirby Memorial Baptist Church, “Building Fund,” 512 Chandler Drive, Gaffney, SC 29340.
The family will be at the residence.
