Willa Jones
Willa Jean Hardin Jones, 71, of 125 Brittany Road, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Restorative Care.
Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Roger Jones and daughter of the late Darvin J. Hardin and Voltie White Hardin. She was the granddaughter of the late Ernest J. and Luna Mae Hardin and Wade and Sally White. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in Cherokee County schools for 40 years. A graduate of Blacksburg High School and Limestone College, she was an avid bridge player and a member of First Baptist Church, where she was in the Lawrence Childers Sunday School Class.
In addition to her husband, surviving are a son, Darvin Hardin (Hardy) Jones and wife, Lisa, of Gaffney; two sisters, Terra Brown and husband, J.D., of Gaffney and Harriett Hardin Edmisten of Boone, N.C.; a granddaughter, Mary Catherine Jones of Gaffney; a brother-in-law, G.R. Boyd of Blacksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Hardin Boyd.
Services will be held Monday, Nov. 30, at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Duey Whitfield and Chaplain Carroll Hutcheson officiating.
Visitation was held Sunday, Nov. 29, from 6- 8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.
