The Blacksburg Senior Center, 307 W. Pine St., is hosting a diabetic shoe clinic on Tuesday, Dec. 15, from 10:30 a.m. until noon for diabetic persons covered by Medicare Part B or Medicaid.

A certified diabetic shoe specialist will be on hand to measure your feet for shoes and provide a prescription form to be filled out by your physician.

Through the Medicaresponsored therapeutic shoe program you may be entitled to coverage for one pair of extra depth shoes and three pairs of pressure distributing inserts every calendar year.

The purpose of the service is to help prevent foot complications common in many diabetics. The diabetic shoes and inserts help to relive foot pressure spots, promote proper blood circulation, and offer maximum protection and comfort.

Those attending should bring medicare and insurance cards. All paperwork except securing your prescription will be done for you.
