Eliza P. Black
BLACKSBURG – Eliza Pelham Black, 92, of 208 W. Carolina St., Apt. D-17, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, in her home.
Widow of Will Black, she was born in Cherokee County, a daughter of the late Lottie Pelham Graham. She was a member of Indian Hill Baptist Church, where she served as Mother of the Church, member of the Senior Choir, Usher Board, Pastor’s Aid and Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Black was a member of Whitaker Chapter 127 Order of the Eastern Star and Tamin Court 122 Daughters of Isis.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mamie Roseboro.
Surviving are a son, Victor Black (Pamela); four daughters, Willie Huskey, Betty Gibson, Doris Love (Willie), all of Blacksburg, and Margaret Tyson of New York; a son-inlaw, Sammy Roseboro of Blacksburg; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 3 p.m. at Indian Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Mary Jefferies officiating. Interment will be in Gaffney Memorial Park. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
