Lady Indians give coach biggest road victory
Gaffney girls’ varsity basketball coach Stacey Parris didn’t hide her enthusiasm about beating perennial power Dorman on Friday.
“It’s the biggest road win since I’ve been here,” said Parris after the Lady Indians’ 64-60 win.
In a testament to the Lady Indians’ steady improvement under Parris, the Lady Cavaliers beat Gaffney by 50 points in Parris’ first trip to Dorman three years ago.
“I’m just very proud of my seniors,” she said.
Two of those seniors, Keisha Leach and Kierra Phillips, combined for 37 points. Leach was especially hot from long range with four 3-pointers.
“Our two all-conference players played like they can play,” the Gaffney coach said.
The Lady Indians also got a strong performance from Tylar Cottrell off the bench.
Mikala Scott had 18 points to lead the Lady Cavaliers.
Gaffney will host Byrnes today.
