The North-South All- Star football game couldn’t have gone any better: Gaffney coach Phil Strickland guided the North to a 21-17 win and Gaffney’s Joe Craig and Chris Adams turned in solid performances.
The North took the lead for good in the third quarter when Byrnes’ Chas Dodd hit Drake Thomason of Eastside for a 30-yard touchdown.
Craig, who has verbally committed to Clemson, had a 25-yard catch and was open for a touchdown but the ball was overthrown. Adams was credited with three tackles.
“Both Joe and Chris played well,” Strickland said. “The game was pretty competitive.”
The South took advantage of a botched snap to take a 10-9 halftime lead.
Strickland said the highlight of the week was to develop relationships with the players and coaches.
“The benefit is to meet 44 players from other schools,” he said.

In addition to daily practice sessions, the players were kept busy with social activities, such as bowling, putt-putt golf and a visit to the aquarium.
