Woodruff rides second-half spurt to beat Blacksburg

Travis Miller Travis Miller The Blacksburg boys’ varsity team battled back from a 10-point halftime deficit but ran out of gas in the fourth quarter in a 69-54 loss at Woodruff on Friday.

After trailing 28-18 at the break, the Wildcats erupted for 26 thirdquarter points to take a lead into the final quarter. But the homestanding Wolverines went on a spurt early in the fourth quarter to go ahead for good.

The Wolverines hit six 3-pointers in the second half to regain the momentum.

Darrell Walton had 10 of the Wildcats’ 18 firsthalf points.

Donte Brown had 18 points to lead the Wildcats, who fall to 3-5.

Blacksburg returns to action Tuesday against visiting Spartanburg Christian.
