Sorority has January meeting at Magnolia’s
XI Alpha Delta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held a Christmas social and meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. at Kelly’s Steak House in Blacksburg.
After the Beta Sigma Phi blessing, dinner was served to members and their spouses and/or friends. After the meal, a short Christmas story was presented by the president, Patty Greene Andrews.
The first meeting of the new year was at Magnolia’s of Gaffney on Monday, Jan. 4, at 7 p.m. Due to the absence of the hostess, Margaret Smith, Ruth Ann Ohlsen was co-hostess for the evening.
The meeting was called to order by the president and Ann Loftis led the opening ritual. Ruth Ann Ohlsen, secretary, gave the Greek roll call and 10 were present. The treasurer, Shirley Addis, gave the financial report and standing committees also gave their reports.
The service project for January is to purchase heaters to distribute to families who need them.
The social for the month will be on Monday, Jan. 18, at 6:30 p.m. at Daddy Jo’s. Members and their spouses and/or friends are invited to attend.
The meeting was adjourned with the closing ritual, Mispah and Beta Sigma Phi grace. Refreshments were served by the co-hostess.
The next meeting of the organization will be on Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. at the home of Billie Taylor.
