POLICE REPORT

A 25-year-old Blacksburg woman was arrested on drug and traffic offenses following a Feb. 1 traffic stop.

According to the Gaffney Police Department, an officer was dispatched Feb. 1 to West Floyd Baker Boulevard on a report of a possible drunk driver and the officer reported that he observed a vehicle back over a sidewalk and swerve from one lane to another. During a traffic stop, the officer claimed the driver, Jessica Sharell Motts, had slurred speech, which she attributed to having a dry mouth. Police claimed Motts subsequently failed field sobriety tests.

During the encounter, police said Motts told them a passenger in her vehicle had given her some pills to hide and a female officer recovered a plastic bag with 12 pills believed to be Oxycontin from Motts’ pants. Police claim they also found in Motts’ wallet a clear bag with suspected methamphetamine.

Motts had no blood alcohol content during a breath test and she was transported to give a urine sample, police reported.

Motts was charged in warrants with possession with intent to deliver Oxycontin and possession of methamphetamine. Bond was set at $25,000, online records show.

More than $8,000 in equipment was reported stolen from a Burnt Chimney Road, Blacksburg, property.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reported that someone entered a property in the 100 block between Jan. 21 and Feb. 3 and took a 2008 John Deere lawn tractor, Series 100, and the heating coil unit from a heat pump.

A burglar apparently tried to gain entry to a 4th Street business between Jan. 29 and Feb. 1.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reported that about $200 in door and door frame damage was found at P’s and Steve’s Auto in the 800 block. No entry was made.
