Robert E. Ellison

COLUMBIA – Robert Emmet Ellison, 89, died at home Feb. 3, 2010.

He was educated in Columbia public schools and Sewanee Military Academy. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Ellison was a retired partner of the Ellison Insurance Agency.

Mr. Ellison was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Ridgeway, where he served his Heavenly Father in many capacities. He and his wife, Ann, were active in Faith Alive and the Cursillo movement.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ann Caldwell Ellison; a brother, James H. Ellison Sr. of Still Hopes in West Columbia; his son, Robert E. Ellison Jr. of Blythewood; daughters, Gail E. Prevatt (Gene) of Savannah and Christine J. Ellison of Charleston; stepson, Dennis M. Petty of Columbia. He is also survived by grandchildren, Kevin B. Mullis, David S. Mullis (Tabitha) and Virginia E. Mullis, all of the Shasta Lake area in California, and two greatgrandchildren, Spencer Mullis and Kaison Mullis, also of Shasta Lake City.

Mr. Ellison was predeceased by his stepson, Ronald S. Petty.

A memorial service will be held at noon Monday, Feb. 8, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Ridgeway with interment following in the churchyard.
