Saints opener postponed

The Limestone College baseball game against Anderson University scheduled for Thursday has been postponed.

The game has been rescheduled for April 23, at 3 p.m. at Bob Prevatte Field.

The Saints will open their season on Friday at the Flagler Challenge in St. Augustine, Fla. Limestone will face Flagler College on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m.

On Saturday, the Saints face off against Flagler at 1 p.m. and the University of Alabama- Huntsville at 5 p.m. Limestone will conclude tournament play on Sunday with a game against the University of Alabama-Huntsville at 11 a.m.

Saints win home opener

The Limestone College men's volleyball team won its home opener against Conference Carolinas-rival King College on Wednesday night 3-2.

The scores of the match were 31-29, 27-30, 24-30, 35-33, and 18-16.

The Saints stand at 1-0 in league play (2-2 overall) as King falls to 0-2 on the season (0-1 conference).

LC track teams ranked at top

The Limestone College men's and women's track and field teams are at the top of the latest Southeast regional rankings released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Limestone men are currently ranked No. 2 in the region while the Limestone women are ranked No. 1.

Lax team to participate in benefit

The Limestone College women's lacrosse team is participating in the Lax 4 Life initiative, which benefits the Allyson Rose Green Memorial Foundation.

The Saints will be collecting money at their home game against Dowling College on March 28 at noon.

The team will also participate in the event during its road game at Shippensburg University on March 20, in Pennsylvania.The Allyson Rose Green Memorial Foundation was created to increase awareness of adolescent suicides and help identify adolescents at risk.

Allyson was the younger sister of West Chester goalkeeper Mary Beth Green. The women's lacrosse teams in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference started Lax 4 Life last year and the effort has expanded to include NCAA Division II teams.

Softball league meeting Feb. 15

The 2010 Cherokee County Church League Softball annual meeting will be Monday, Feb. 15, at Temple Baptist Church on Cherokee Ave.

The meeting will concern the spring and fall leagues for men, women, youth and co-ed kids leagues. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
