Osborne Messer Jr., 66, of 133 Marietta St., Lot 2, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at his home.

Born in Cherokee County on Feb. 7, 1943, Mr. Messer was the son of the late Osborne and Annie Messer of Gastonia, N.C. He was of the Church of God faith, worked as a cab driver for City Cab and was a race car driver.

Survivors include two daughters, Leann Easler and Laura Messer of Gaffney; five grandsons; one granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son; a brother, James Messer; and a sister, Margaret Cooper.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Pleasant and the Rev. Charlie Ivey officiating.

Visitation was held Saturday, Feb. 6, from 7-9 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church.
