Special event
A Tuesday Ladies’ Celebration is set for Tuesday, March 16, at 6:30 p.m. in First Baptist Life Center. Call 489-6064 to reserve your ticket. Guest speaker will be Vonda Skelton, an entertaining teacher and speaker with a heart for women and their families. She inspires women to laugh, learn and love. Her final message is always the same: “You are not alone and Jesus loves you.” With topics ranging from marriage to children, and spiritual growth to seasons of life, Vonda has something special for every facet of women’s ministry.
Gospel concert
The Phillips Family will present a concert Sunday, March 14, at 10:30 a.m. at New Harvest Church of God in Gaffney.
Job help
A career specialist will be at the Blacksburg Library on Thursday, March 11, from 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. to help people who are out of work learn how to prepare for interviews and jobs. No registration is required. For information, call the Blacksburg library, 864- 839-2630.
Meeting
Jack E. Daniel Chapter 54, Disabled American Veterans, will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, March 11, at VFW Post 3445. All members and their wives are invited to attend. Officers for the coming year will be elected and installed.
The monthly SHOC meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 17, at 12 p.m. and will be held at a location still to be determined. For additional information, call 864-839- 9783.
Church news
Suck Creek Baptist Church will have special celebration services Sunday, March 21, at 3 p.m. honoring pastor, the Rev. Tony Macomson, on his 30th pastoral anniversary. Guests will be Pastor Freddie Davidson and the Ebenezer Church family of Gaffney.
The Senior Choir of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 112th anniversary on Sunday, March 21, at 4 p.m.
Fund raiser
Corinth Baptist Church, 190 Corinth Road, will sponsor a spaghetti supper fund raiser on Saturday, March 13, at 5 p.m. Plates are $6 for adults; $3 for children ages 4-12; and free for children under 3. All proceeds will go to the church’s mission trips to Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
Support group
The Military Family Support Group of Cherokee County will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, March 16, at 7 p.m. at Central Baptist Church Fellowship Building, 500 E. Montgomery St. Founded by the families of local servicemen and women serving overseas, the support group is open to any spouse, parent, girlfriend, boyfriend or grandparent of anyone serving in the U.S. Military. Support group members provide comfort and a ready ear. Meetings are held one a month. Guest speaker for the next meeting will be a representative of the American

Classes
CPR Saturday is set for Saturday, March 13. An adult, child and infant CPR class will be conducted at the Senior Centers of Cherokee County, 499 W. Rutledge Ave., presented by the Piedmont Chapter of the American Red Cross of Cherokee County. Classes will be from 8-11:30 a.m. and from 1-4:30 p.m Pre-registration and prepayment of $20 is required. Call the American Red Cross at 489-6066 during office hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
