Nickie Leon Hemphill, 51, of 412 Willow St., widower of Phyllis Hemphill, died March 7, 2010, at 2:03 a.m. at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Son of Frank Harrison of Winnsboro and the late Margaret Hemphill, he was a native of Cherokee County and a United States Army veteran. He was a 1977 graduate of Gaffney High School and formerly employed by Gaffney Manufacturing.

Surviving are three sons, Stethan Davidson, Shane Davidson, both of Gaffney, and Travis Hemphill of Chesnee; a daughter, Shamia Hemphill of Chesnee; a brother, Frankie Hemphill of Rochester, N.Y.; a sister, Marnita Hoey of Charlotte; and a host of other relatives.

Services will be held- March 13 at 2 p.m. at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. C.A. Wallace and Lawrence Davidson and Dr. Troy McDowell. Military interment will be in the church cemetery. Body in the church at 1 p.m.

The family is at the home of his son, Shane Davidson, 415 Mills St.
