Patricia H. Jenkins

IRMO – Patricia Spencer Holt Jenkins, 74, passed away March 9, 2010, at Ascension Hospice House after an extended illness.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Officiating will be the Rev. Jim Neuburger. Entombment will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Georgetown.

Pat was born Nov. 12, 1935, in Gaffney, a daughter of the late William P. Spencer and Malvin Davis Spencer, both of Gaffney. She was educated in the Cherokee County public schools and graduated from Gaffney High School, Class of 1953. Prior to her illness, she was a member of and attended First Baptist Church of Irmo.

She was predeceased by her son, Philip R. Holt, in 1986; her first husband of 35 years, Ralph G. Holt, in 1988; and her second husband of nine years, Alan D. Jenkins, in 2002.

Pat had retired from the S.C. Highway Department, Bridge and Maintenance Section in Columbia. An avid golfer, she held numerous club championships through the years, the latest being at Coldstream Country Club and Charwood Country Club. She spent many happy times with her golf association friends and their devotion and friendship throughout her illness was one of her many blessings.

Survivors include her sister and caregiver, Bettye Spencer Gum of Little River; daughter and son-inlaw, Debra Holt Cummins and Dr. David Cummins of Ormand Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, April, Jennifer, Amber and Sylver; three great-grandchildren, Max, Matthew and Molly; niece, Juliette; and special aunts and cousins. Also surviving are Carol Jenkins Neuburger and the Rev. Jim Neuburger of Ballentine; Kay Jenkins Womble and Glenn Womble of Columbia; Jo Ann Jenkins Russell of Charlotte; 14 grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

The family of Mrs. Jenkins would like to express appreciation to the staff of Ascension Hospice with special thanks to Carrie, Kay, Bridget and Shaneta for their excellent care and loving support during Pat’s illness, and also to very special friends, Ann and Bob Gregory.
