Lady Saints

rout Fort Lewis

The No. 4-ranked Limestone College women's lacrosse team defeated Fort Lewis College 20-1 on Monday afternoon at Saints Field.

Limestone climbs to 5-0 on the season as the Skyhawks fall to 0-2.

The Saints were led by Chelsea Caiazza's four goals. Katie Ilott and Renee Albro each had a hat trick. Kelly Oterson and Britt Howard each scored twice as six more players scored in the win. Lauren Smith led Limestone with two assists.

Four goalies saw action for the Saints. Starter Brigid Milchling had one save in the first 15 minutes. Rashelle McLellan finished out the first half. Michaela Reynolds started the second half for Limestone and was relieved by Jennifer Pipitone, who recorded one save.

Local golfer

makes fifth ace

Stan Littlejohn made his fifth hole-in-one Saturday on the 161- yard 17th hole at Cherokee National Golf Club.

He hit a six iron. Littlejohn, a 12-time winner of the club's men's championship and star for the Wofford golf team in the early 70s, made his other aces at Shoresbrook, Mt. Mitchell, CC of Spartanburg and Linville CC.

Playing with Littlejohn were Larry Sossamon, Phillip Rogers, Ken Rogers, and Cody Sossamon.

In another rarity, the group had eight birdies on the first two holes. For the day, Littlejohn and four birdies to go with his 1, shooting a 75 for the 18.

Harris scores game-winner in OT

In its season opener, Josh Harris scored with :14 gone in the second five-minute overtime to give the Gaffney High soccer team a 2-1 victory over Byrnes on Monday.

Luis Torres had the other Indian goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Alan Palma and sweeper Carson Caldwell were other bright spots for the Indians.

Lady Indians' win

Julie Sarratt tossed a three hitter and struck out seven to lead the Gaffney High softball team to a 6-1 win over Broome on Tuesday.

Broome's lone run was unearned. Gaffney broke the game open with a six-run sixth.

Sarratt also was a force at the plate, with three doubles and two RBIs.

Katie Patterson and Ashley Mabry each had doubles for the Lady Indians.

Every player in the lineup had at least one hit for the Lady Indians, who are 1-0.
