Saints sweep twinbill
The Limestone College baseball team took two non-conference games from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Monday.
The Saints won game one 6-2 and took the second game 9-3.
With the wins, Limestone improves to 9- 10 on the year and IUP falls to 3-6.
In game one, Limestone jumped out to a quick 4-0 in the bottom of the first inning. David Christy, Drew Lydon, Joe Maloney and AJ Lewis all had RBIs in the first inning. The Saints would add single runs in the second and fourth innings while IUP would score its two runs in the second inning.
Limestone starter Michael McAbee picked up the win in a complete game effort, allowing two runs and striking out two batters.
Gaffney’s Michael Hughey went 2-3 with two runs scored.
In the second game, IUP would score single runs in the first and second innings of game 2, taking a two-run lead into the bottom of the second inning.
However, the visitors’ lead wouldn’t make it out of the second when Limestone scored four runs in the bottom of the frame as Cameron Ward, Hughey, Robinson and Christy all knocked in runs for Limestone.
The Saints would add three runs to their lead in the third inning with Ward highlighting the inning with a two-run home run.
