Storm safety instruction at schools
The Cherokee County Fire Chiefs Association Safety Team is gearing up for the possibility of severe Spring and Summer weather and will be presenting educational classes at several area schools this month. The safety team will take its mobile classroom to Heritage Christian School on March 17 and The Village School on March 23. The Safety Team is comprised of volunteers from across Cherokee County.
Job help
A career specialist will be at the Gaffney library Thursday, March 18, from 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. to help people who are out of work learn how to prepare for interviews and jobs. No registration is required. For more information call 864-487-2711.
Church news
Suck Creek Baptist Church family will have special celebration services honoring its pastor, the Rev. Tony Macomson, on his 30th pastoral anniversary. The special service will be on Sunday, March 21, at 3 p.m. Guests will be Pastor Freddie Davidson and the Ebenezer Church family of Gaffney.
Support group
The Military Family Support Group of Cherokee County will meet Tuesday, March 16, at 7 p.m. at Central Baptist Church Fellowship Building, 500 E. Montgomery St. Guest speaker will be a representative of the American Red Cross. Meeting
Moses Wood Camp 125, Sons of Confederate Veterans, will meet Thursday, March 18, at the Cherokee County History and Arts Museum, 301 College Drive, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Donald Raborn, whose topic will be “Weapons of War Between the States.” Raborn is the 14-year commander of Walker-Gaston Camp 86, Sons of Confederate Veterans in Chester County. He resides in Rock Hill with his wife, Merie, and is supervisor for Megadine America in Charlotte.
Blood drives
The Piedmont Blood Center's Bloodmobile will be in Gaffney at the SCC Cherokee Campus on Wednesday, March 17, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; at Wal-Mart on Saturday, April 3, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; and at Limestone College Wednesday, April 7, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Fund raiser
The BHS Band will be having a fish fry Saturday, March 20, from 11:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. Plates will be $8 and include fish or chicken, French fries, hush puppies, slaw,and tea or lemonade. Bake goods will also be sold.
