Tommy Vickers

CHESNEE – Tommy Junior Vickers, 79, of 608 McArthur Ave., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Peachtree Centre.

Born in Rutherfordton, N.C., he was the husband of Kathryn Lowe Vickers and son of the late Thomas Vickers and Lissa Jane Fowler Vickers. He was retired from the Cherokee County Department of Transportation and was a was member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Chesnee.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Lynn Vickers of Gaffney; three daughters, Marlene Mullinax of Mayo, Patricia Mullinax of Gaffney and Wanda Everage of Chesnee; three sisters, Lorene Stroupe, Betty Humphries and Hazel Upchurch, all of Gaffney; seven grandchildren; and 19 greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Buchanan.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 15, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.

Services will be held Tuesday, March 16, at 11 a.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Billy Wayne Henderson and Ray Mullinax officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the home of Lynn Vickers, 1495 Concord Road.
