 A thief or thieves stole a trailer from the Cherokee Creek Volunteer Fire Department recently.

A 6 foot by 10 foot military trailer was taken from the fire department property on Kegtown Mill Road, Chesnee, between 9 a.m. March 8 and 1:13 p.m. March 12, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

The trailer, which was valued at $1,500, had two ribs on it to support a canopy.

Due to the value of the trailer the theft is considered grand larceny.

 The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a March 12 incident during which an intoxicated North Carolina woman found near a Blacksburg truck stop claimed she was assaulted by another woman.

According to a police report, a worker from a nearby business, however, claimed an unidentified trucker had seen the woman get tossed out of a moving big rig.

The woman, who had scratches and bruises on her face, was taken to Upstate Carolina Medical Center for treatment.

 Two vehicles were targeted for break-in on South Rutherford Street in Blacksburg between March 10 and March 11.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, a thief or thieves entered two cars in the 900 block and took a brown Carhart coat, sized XXL, 20 music CDs and a black Garmin navigation unit with a 6-inch screen.

Theft losses totaled almost $700.

 A television was reported stolen following a March 11 break-in on Old Bridge Road.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone forced entry to a home in the 300 block between noon and 1:05 p.m. by breaking out a window on a back door.

The thief or thieves took a 42-inch Dynexbrand flat screen television valued at $540.

Door damage was estimated at an additional $150.

 The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reported that a suspicious vehicle found on Island Creek Road in the Cowpens area was towed to Spartanburg County on March 12 as part of an investigation of a shooting.

According to the police report, a green-colored Ford Contour was found abandoned in the 100 block on a vacant parcel. The vehicle was towed to Spartanburg County at the request of a Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office investigator.

There was no immediate word if the vehicle was indeed linked to a crime in Spartanburg County.

 The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reported the theft of a $4,000 ATV from Pinecrest Drive.

According to a police report, a camouflage-colored 2007 Kawasaki Prairie ATV was taken from the 100 block between Feb. 20 and March 12.

 A thief stole pocket change and an engraved knife from a truck on Pine Forest Drive in Blacksburg on March 10.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, a thief or thieves entered the truck as it was parked in the 100 block and took $10 in change and a pocket knife engraved with the words, “Love Always, Dad.”

 About $700 in property was reported stolen following the break-in of a storage building on Walnut Street.

According to the Gaffney Police Department, someone forced entry to a storage building in the 200 block by breaking a front door between 6 p.m. March 8 and 11 a.m. March 9.

Taken from the storage building were a greencolored tool box valued at $500, a table saw valued at $50, and a rotary saw valued at $50. About $100 in damage was reported as well.

 A video game system and games valued at $865 were reported stolen from a Blackwell Farm Road home following a burglary.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone entered a home in the 100 block between 8:30 p.m. March 8 and 8:30 a.m. March 9 and took a Nintendo D.S. game system and 21 games. Police said there were no signs of forced entry but two doors, which had been locked, were found unlocked when the homeowner returned.

 The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reported the theft of a truck from Washington Avenue.

According to a police report, a 1986 GMC truck valued at $1,000 was taken from the 100 block between March 7-9.
