Gaffney’s White saddled with loss to conference rival Coker
The Limestone College baseball team lost the final game of its Conference Carolinas series against Coker College 15-7 on Monday afternoon at Bob Prevatte Field.
Coker hit six home runs and scored 13 runs in the final five innings en route to taking the victory and the series from the Saints.
With the loss, Limestone falls to 10-13 (5-7 conference) while Coker improves to 14-12 (7-8 conference).
Both teams scored two runs apiece in the first frame.
Over the next few innings, Limestone would add five runs to take a 7-2 lead into the fifth inning, but that’s when Coker would start its comeback.
The Cobras scored five runs in the sixth, two in the seventh, another in the eighth, and two runs in the ninth inning as the Coker defense held the Saints scoreless.
Josh Troutman led the Saints at the plate, going 3-5 with 2 runs batted in and a run scored. Joe Maloney 2-4 for Limestone with two runs scored.
Gaffney’s Brock White took the loss, allowing four runs in 1/3 inning of work. Michael McAbee started and pitched the first 5 innings for the Saints, allowing 5 earned runs and striking out 4 batters.
