Phil Strickland Phil Strickland Longtime Gaffney High football assistant Donnie Littlejohn will serve as the only offensive coordinator next season.

Littlejohn had served as co-offensive coordinator with Perry Woolbright, who left last month to become the head coach at North Myrtle Beach High School. Woolbright was hired two years ago to install the no-huddle.

Littlejohn, who earned All- America honors at Furman University, also works with the offensive line.

Whether its related to Littlejohn’s promotion or not, head coach Phil Strickland said he’s looking to diversify the offense a little more next season.

Instead of running the no-huddle exclusively, Strickland said the Indians plan to employ more 2-back formations and utilize the tight end into schemes if a capable tight end emerges.

Strickand said he’s undecided on whether he will hire a quarterbacks coach or promote a present assistant to the position. He has interviewed two candidates for the position and plans to interview several more.

If he does promote from within., he still must hire another coach. Strickland said he has no timetable to adding a new coach to the staff.

The Indians typically hold their spring drills in May.
