Nation Ford shocks Lady Indians
Julie Sarratt
Not even all-state pitcher Julie Sarratt could overcome six errors by the Gaffney Lady Indians.
Nation Ford scored two unearned runs in the sixth inning to beat the state champion Lady Indians, 3-2, on Thursday.
Gaffney drops to 1-1 in the region, a game behind the Lady Falcons, who were expected to be Gaffneys stiffest competition.
“Nation Ford has a good team,” Gaffney coach Kelly Ellis said. “We’re just going to have to fight our way back.”
Sarratt helped her own cause with a first inning solo homer and scored in the sixth on Jessica Ramsey’s single.
Sarratt allowed only four hits and struck out nine.
Gaffney hosts Boiling Springs today.
