By LARRY HILLIARD Ledger Sports Editor larry@gaffneyledger.com

Chase Norman pitched like the team’s ace on Wednedsay, tossing a 1-hitter in leading the Blacksburg Wildcats to a huge 7-0 victory over rival Landrum.

“Chase was mixing his pitches up well,” a happy Blacksburg coach Toby Elliott said.

The coach also praised his team’s defense.

The Wildcats scored two runs in the second and blew the game open with a 5-run sixth inning.

Kaleb Earls, Tyler Moss and Will Raines each had a pair of RBIs for the Wildcats.

Norman knocked in the other run.

“I was pleased,” Elliott added. “We worked hard in the offseason and it’s paying off. But we are just getting started in the season.”

The Wildcats play at Christ Church today.
