Cherokee County Children’s Home is so proud and appreciative
To the residents of Cherokee County:
The Channel 7 Telethon brought in more than $14,000 at last count with more than $9,000 of that amount donated to Cherokee Children’s Home.
I cannot tell you how proud I am of Cherokee County!
It became apparent from the beginning that the generous citizens of Cherokee County were making most of the calls to the telethon. We also received donations from Spartanburg County citizens as well. It was a wonderful opportunity to share the story of Cherokee Children’s Home and the problems of abuse, abandonment and neglect.
Some of the calls came from adults who had been in foster care as children and their stories were very touching and reinforced the importance of taking care of these very deserving children.
We hope this will be an annual event and we are so appreciative to Channel 7 and to Jack Roper and staff who stayed with us on duty from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m. A long day but very much worth it!
