Lib Childers
Elizabeth Batchelor Hawkins Childers, 87, formerly of 110 Chandler Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Brookview Healthcare Center.
Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of James Hawkins and Coley Childers and daughter of the late Horace A. Batchelor and Sudie Mae Sparks Batchelor. She was a retired assistant librarian for the Cherokee County schools, a seamstress and a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. She was lover of all people and a great witness for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Childers was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, where she sang with the Amazing Grace Singers, was a nursery worker and volunteered in the church library.
Surviving are a son, Jim Hawkins and wife, Rachel, of Gaffney; a daughter, Rachel Davis and husband, Tom, of Columbia; a step-son, Virgil Childers and wife, Angela, of Jonesville; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Childers of Charlotte; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Childers was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Batchelor; three sisters, Mary Watson, Ethel Davis and Bessie Batchelor; and a step-son, Joe Dean Childers.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 8, from 10-11 a.m. at Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church. Services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Dr. Clyde Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at the home of Jim and Rachel Hawkins, 500 S. Petty St.
