ENOREE – Billy Gene Hayes, 68, formerly of Gaffney, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 3, 2010.

Born in North Carolina, he was the son of the late Curly Hayes and Margaret Hayes. He was retired from Spartan Steel, a Mason and Shriner, and of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by a son, Larry Gene Hayes of Taylors; a daughter, Donna Hayes Mahaffee of Gaffney; and a granddaughter, Shannon Mahaffee.

Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Wayne Hayes.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 10, at 10 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery with Mr. Ashby L. Blakely officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greenville Shriners Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605-4277.

Family members will be at their respective homes.
