Gaming tourneys for teens begin this week
The Gaffney and Blacksburg libraries will be hosting video gaming tournaments for teens and visits from Ronald McDonald as part of the "Make a Splash" and "Make Waves" summer reading programs.
The gaming tournaments are open for teens ages 12-18.
The tournament schedule includes:
BLACKSBURG LIBRARY: Monday, June 14, Guitar Hero Tournament, 10:30- 12:30 p.m.; Wii Sports Tournament, 2:30- 4:30 p.m.
GAFFNEY LIBRARY: Wednesday, June 16, Guitar Hero Tournament, 10:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.; Wii Sports Tournament, 2:30- 4:30 p.m.
There are only eight spots available for each tournament. To register call the Gaffney library, 864-487-2711, or the Blacksburg library, 864-839-2630.
On Tuesday, June 15, Ronald McDonald will visit the Cherokee County Public Library in Gaffney at 10:30 a.m. and the Blacksburg Library at 2:30 p.m.

Dive into Reading with Ronald McDonald!," Ronald uses a creative mix of music, magic and games to share with the audience the excitement of reading and books. Ronald delivers a message to children – reading is fun and "book time" is an important and special time of the day..
