BLACKSBURG – Susie Bridges Camp, 84, of 115 Henry Drive, widow of Luther Camp, Sr., passed away Friday, June 11, 2010, at 8:45 p.m. at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Henry Hopper, 6012 Leo Drive, Shelby, N.C.
Daughter of the late Henry Bridges and the late Hessie Epps Bridges, she was born on Aug. 10, 1925, in Gaffney. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church, where she was a member of the All Women's Choir and the Senior Missionary. She was a retired employee of Wendell Fabrics of Blacksburg.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Deolious Bridges, Alonzo Bridges, Monroe Bridges, Saul Bridges and John Bridges; and three sisters, Elizabeth Linder, Bontee Wood and Sally Parker.
She is survived by six children, Sandra Hopper (Henry), Luther Camp Jr., all of Shelby, Calvin Camp of Asheville, N.C., Brenda Camp, Alicia Camp, both of Gaffney, and Bridges "Tank" Camp of the home; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three greatgreat grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Angeline Pope of Hickory, N.C., Irene Bridges of Baltimore, Md., and Netha Camp of Blacksburg; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services will be held Tuesday, June 15, at 1 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church with Dr. Michael A. Bridges and the Revs. Van Williams and Stanley Watson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at noon and the family will receive friends before the service from 12:30-1 p.m.
The family is at the residence, 115 Henry Drive, Blacksburg, where they will receive friends today from 12-7 p.m.
